October 1997’s block was a 6” nine-patch
The finished block measures 6” square (6 1/2 inch unfinished). Instructions: | |
 | - Cut four 2 1/2 inch square pieces from a light
and five 2 1/2 inch square pieces from a contrasting fabric. - Sew together three blocks for each row (alternating colors or using different colors) with a 1/4 inch seam allowance.
|
 | - Sew the three strips together along long sides, using a 1/4 inch seam allowance.
- Your finished (unfinished) block should measure 6 1/2 inches. Be sure to leave the seam allowance on the block, DO NOT cut it to the six inch finished size -- as the “finished” measurement represents the block size after it is sewn into a quilt top.
