        Strips to cut

        Strips to piece

         Finished block

Choose a red print fabric, a blue print fabric, and a bleached white muslin for the background.

Cutting instructions:

    1.  From the muslin and the outer color (blue in my example) cut two 1 1/2 inch strips from the full width of a 44-inch wide fabric.  If you are using fat quarters, cut four strips 1 1/2 inches wide.

    2.  From the inner color (red in my example) cut one 1 1/2 inch strip from the full width of  fabric, or two 1 1/2 inch strips from a fat quarter.

    3.  Cut the following pieces from the 1 1/2 inch strips.  All dimensions include a 1/4 inch seam allowance and can be cut exactly as specified.  After cutting, stack the pieces for each row separately.  Note, the colors specified are for my example.  If you reverse the colors, reverse the colors in the instructions as well.
