June 2001’s block is a 4-Patch Snowball block.

This block measures 12 inches square.  (12 ½ inches unfinished).  This block is a traditional 4-Patch Snowball block pattern using fall colors with a beige tone-on-tone background.

Instructions:  Use good quality, 100% cotton pre-washed fabrics.  Follow the directions below for each block.

1.
2.
3.
4.
Choose 4 fall-colored fabrics. (i.e. gold, green, orange, red, brown, etc.)

    1. Cut one 6 1/2 inch square from each of the four fabrics.  (see graphic 1)

    2. Cut sixteen 2 1/2 inch squares from the beige-on-beige fabric.  Fold each in half point-to-point to form a triangle and finger press a center seam line and open again.  (see graphic 2)

    3. Lay it on one corner of one of the 6 1/2 inch squares.  Sew on the seam line.  Repeat with the other 3 corners until you have a square that looks like graphic 3.  Trim the corners to 1/4 inch from the seam.

    4. Repeat with the other 3 fall fabrics.  Press the seams toward the dark fabric and you will end up with four 6 1/2 inch squares.  Assemble together like in graphic 4 sewing 2 snowballs together and the other 2 snowballs together.  Then finally sew these two pairs of snowballs together.  (reminder:  use 1/4 inch seam allowances)

Your completed unfinished block will measure 12 ½ inches.
